Questions
Things drivers ask us every week.
Short, honest answers. If yours is not here, call or text (305) 495-7314 — a licensed agent will answer it.
Quotes and prices
Do I have to switch to get a quote?
No. Quotes are free and there is no obligation. If your current policy is already the best deal, we will tell you so.
What do I need for a quote?
Your driver's license, the vehicle's VIN (or year, make and model) and your current policy if you have one. That is it — we can start with less and fill in the rest by phone.
How long does it take?
The form takes about two minutes. We usually call back within the business day with prices from the carriers that fit your situation.
Why is my price different from my neighbor's?
Carriers rate on the driver, the car, the address, the coverage and the insurance history — and each weighs them differently. That is why one application goes to five companies.
Will you sell my information?
No. Your information goes to the carriers we quote with and nowhere else. Read the privacy policy.
Florida rules
What does Florida require on my car?
At minimum, $10,000 of Personal Injury Protection (PIP) and $10,000 of Property Damage Liability (PDL), from a Florida-licensed insurer, for as long as the car is registered.
What is PIP, and what is "no-fault"?
PIP pays 80% of your own medical bills and 60% of lost wages after a crash, up to $10,000, no matter who caused it — that is what "no-fault" means. You must start treatment within 14 days of the accident.
Is bodily injury liability required?
Not for most drivers. It is required after certain violations (SR-22) and after a DUI (FR-44), and we recommend it for everyone: it is what protects your savings and wages if you cause a serious crash.
What happens if my insurance lapses?
FLHSMV can suspend your license and plate for up to three years and charge a reinstatement fee of up to $500. There is no hardship license for insurance suspensions. Autopay prevents nearly all of it.
Policies and documents
Can I get covered today?
Usually, yes. Once you choose a policy and make the first payment, we issue your ID cards and proof of insurance the same day.
Can I pay monthly?
Most carriers offer monthly plans with a down payment; paying in full or by autopay usually earns a discount. We show you both prices.
How do I get my ID cards?
Text or call us and we send them to your phone, or download them from your carrier's app or portal — the links are on the customer service page.
How do I add a car or a driver?
Call or text us with the VIN or the driver's license. We make the change, tell you the new price and send the updated documents.
Special situations
I just moved to Florida — can you help?
Yes. We quote with your out-of-state or foreign license, and proof of Florida insurance from us is what the tax collector needs to register your car. Start with the New to Florida page.
I need an SR-22 or FR-44. Can you file it today?
In most cases, yes — once the policy is paid, the carrier files electronically with FLHSMV the same day. Details on the SR-22 / FR-44 page.
Do you insure motorcycles or business vehicles?
Yes, with the carriers that write them. See motorcycle and commercial auto.
Claims
I had an accident. Who do I call?
If anyone is hurt, 911 first. Then report the claim to your carrier — their numbers are on your ID card and on our customer service page — and call us. We follow the claim with you.
Will a claim raise my price?
An at-fault claim usually does at the next renewal; a not-at-fault claim or a comprehensive claim (theft, storm, glass) often does not. When it does, we shop the renewal with the other carriers.
Ready to see what you could save on car insurance?
Free quote, no obligation. Call, text, or send the form — we answer the same business day.
