Motorcycle & commercial

Motorcycle and commercial auto insurance.

Two kinds of policy a personal auto policy does not cover. We place them with the carriers that write them and tell you up front what Florida expects.

Motorcycle insurance

Florida does not require insurance to register a motorcycle, which is why so many riders ride uninsured — and why the ones who get hit by them need uninsured-motorist coverage. Two rules do apply:

  • No helmet, no exception: riders 21 and over may ride without a helmet only if they carry at least $10,000 in medical benefits for injuries from a motorcycle crash.
  • After a crash, the Financial Responsibility Law kicks in: if you cause an accident with injuries or damage and cannot show you can pay for it, your license and registration can be suspended. Liability coverage is how you show it.

What a motorcycle policy covers

  • Bodily injury and property damage liability — what you owe others
  • Collision and comprehensive — your bike, including theft (the most common motorcycle claim in South Florida)
  • Uninsured motorist — your injuries when a car hits you and its driver has no coverage
  • Custom parts and equipment, roadside assistance, trip interruption

Commercial auto insurance

If a vehicle is owned by your business, carries tools, products or passengers for pay, or is driven by employees, your personal policy will not pay a claim on it. Commercial auto is written for the way the vehicle actually works:

  • Contractors, landscapers, cleaning and maintenance crews — pickups, vans and trailers
  • Delivery and cargo vans, box trucks, food trucks
  • Vehicles titled to an LLC or corporation, even if only you drive them
  • Rideshare and delivery drivers who need coverage for the time the personal policy excludes
  • Hired and non-owned coverage when employees drive their own cars for the business
Requirements vary by vehicle weight and use. Heavier trucks have higher state minimums, for-hire vehicles have their own rules, and many contracts and lease agreements require specific limits and a certificate of insurance. Tell us how the vehicle is used and we will tell you exactly what applies — before you quote.

How a commercial quote works

  1. 1
    A short conversation

What the vehicle does, who drives it, where it goes and what your contracts require. Ten minutes by phone is usually enough.

  2. 2
    We quote the right market

Not every carrier writes every risk. We go to the ones that write yours and show you the options.

  3. 3
    Certificates when you need them

Once you are covered, we issue certificates of insurance for your customers and lenders.

Straight answer, up front. If your risk is one we cannot place well, we will say so on the first call and point you in the right direction instead of wasting your time.
